One Hour Sundress

So I continued on with my weekend crafting projects on Saturday by making the One Hour Sundress from FromAnIgloo.blogspot.com - it really was simple and beautiful (and easy to make). The directions were so clear and easy to follow. Whenever I got stuck, I just refered back to the pictures or re-read the description and I was back on track. Very exciting. Miss M might just end up with a BUNCH of these sundresses - lol.
She did wear the dress for the first time yesterday and she seemed very impressed that she could put it on by herself!! :) I like that and so does she!
I have more ideas for things to make for this weekend, but I also want to start going through closest and cleaning up in general (which could take me most of the day on Friday), so we will see how much actual sewing takes place....but, I am READY, just in case I have some more free time! Hahaha!
We also went to the AOP on Sunday - - which was nice...we probably haven't been there in over a month. However, it was VERY crowded and there was a festival going on and they had crafts inside. It's not as much fun to be there when the place is wall to wall with other people. We started off with lunch in the Scuba Cafe - - I had a Minestrone soup (which, amazingly!, I have never had before). It was delicious. I think that I have my new favorite dish to eat there - - my pb&j sandwich has been replaced, I guess. hahahaha. Unfortunately, I think we went at just the wrong time for Miss M. We were probably there about 1/2 an hour when she started whining and crying and deciding that "NO" was her new favorite word! :( It wasn't until I got us back to the car that I realized that it was nap time.  :(  Next time, we will be leaving earlier and getting home earlier, and hopefully, that will make everyone happy!
More later!  :)

Katie's Baby Shower

Played hide-and-seek with Miss M on Thursday! It's a first for us....I think she really enjoyed it, especially seeing how it went on for about 1/2 an hour! She's really good at the hiding part, but not the staying hidden part yet - :)
Busy weekend! Shirley stayed with us - we picked her up on Friday - we ended up at the AOP (which was great, it was bring a friend in free day or something like that, so she didn't have to pay!). She had a good time with Miss M and encouraged her to pay to help the aquarium feed the otters (something I have NEVER thought of doing!) and then we went to watch them and then she bought her a stuffed otter to take home (from the gift shop). Hahhahaha. It was fun for Miss M, however, being summer and a Friday, it was very crowded. I think we were there for about an hour and a half or so before I had enough. :)  Guess I am so used to the days where it ISN'T busy that I just can't stand all the crowds and the kids along with a baby that is cranky because I have kept her up past nap time! LOL.
Saturday morning, we went over to Mom's for Katie's shower. It was very nice A. Pennie was there, Roxanna, Kyana, Don, Travis, Barbara S., and of course, Katie. We had a lot of fun just visiting and hanging out, but again, another long, long day! I was exhausted, but happy. KT got a lot of nice stuff for her party and Mom did a good job with the decorations and the food....Although, I think I ate tooooo many hummus sandwiches and there were SOOO many desserts. But, good all the same! Sunday, we went down to the Patchwork Festival in Marina Park. I was a little bit didisappointed in the set up (I had imagined it being bigger and having more food), but we did get there early and a lot of people were still getting there booths organized....so maybe that was part of the problem. We ended up over at the Farmers Market and that was much more fun! Had tamales (of course!) for lunch and grabbed some extra produce and Miss M tasted oranges and cherries from every.single.booth. that had them out! :)
Wonderful, busy weekend - - but I loved it.
Another one coming up here, too! Miss M has no school tomorrow or Friday - - I am thinking maybe the zoo and the water taxi along with a ride in the Passport, which she told me last night, she REALLY wants to do! Hahhahaha!
More later!    :)

Sid the Science Kid (at AOP)

Had so much fun last Friday - - picked Miss M up from school, went to the library (our normal after-school trek) and she got her own library card! Then, she told me that she didn't want to go home yet, but I guess she forgot that it was the night that Sid the Science Kid was going to be at the AOP! I called SN to see if he wanted to go - I forgot to tell him about it in any detail...I think I had casually mentioned it in passing a few weeks earlier. So, he decided to stay late at work and Miss M and I went out for dinner (CPK - yum, yum - Miss M was soooo good - she ordered all her own food and "thank you"s everytime - - aaahhhh! makes me so totally proud!!!) and then we went over to the AOP.
It was pretty much like any other kid's event that they have - special food (ie - mac n cheese), a craft, face painting, and see the live, colorful shrimp that they have on display in one small tank... They usually have classes and movies for the older kids, well older than mine (!), but since most of these events don't start until 6:30, it's hard for us to do everything anyways. But, the big event of the night was that they had Sid there. He was tall - bigger than me - but, the kids all loved him!!! We got in line so that Miss M could say hello. We got part way down the line (not quite half) when Miss M decided that she just wanted to stand and watch him. She had a good vantage point, and she waved a few times, but he never saw her (I don't think that she really noticed that, though). Finally, she decided that she wanted to give him a hug, so we got back into the line and started moving towards the front...and they gave the guy a break!!! sheesh! We hung out for probably five or ten minutes after his break started, but Miss M kept asking where he was, so I finally suggested that we walk around and do something else...she never asked about him again - she was too busy with other stuff (including, sometimes, just walking around looking at things!!!
She ended up making this hat that was just a black band with a pipecleaner stuck in the front and a cotton ball-thingy on the end that would hang down in front of the kids' faces.... I don't know if they do the same things over and over every year, or if they just have someone really creative working there to think up crafts. But, both times that we have been there for something like this - - the crafts have been a big hit with Miss M!!!

Very fun!
More later!!
