Took Miss M to the Getty Museum the week before last. She was learning about Monet in school and she told me that she wanted to go to an "art show" so that she could see a real Monet in person!!! And since I don't know where art shows are ....lol.... I figured we could do the next best thing - a museum that has Monets.... So it was off to the Getty we went.
The Getty is nice and big and very kid friendly! And, it's FREE!! You just pay for parking, and you are good to go. If you live anywhere in the LA area and need an all day (educational) activity, you can not go wrong making a trip to the Getty.
After you park your car, you take a tram up to the top of the hill so that you can get to the entrance. On our way up on the tram, I think that she got confused about the museum and the Monets - once she could see the museum, she shouted out - I SEE THE MONET!!! Hahahaa! Once we got off the tram, someone came right up to Miss M and gave her a "card" so that she could be a "detective". There were pictures on the cards and she had to go around part of the museum and find everything on the cards. She had a lot of fun with that whole activity. They also have a beautiful garden and outdoor sculpture area.
Oh - and the fooooooddd!!! Everything is soooo good - - it's a little bit on the pricey side, but so delicious. :)
Overall, a good day - - and they had three Monets on display! I think that she forgot what a Monet looked like (since they weren't the same ones that she had studied at school), but once we talked about the first one, she was able to pick out the other two on her own. Yay!
We will definitely be going back!!
More later!! :)
